Cable economisers and splitters are effective solutions for adding new devices to a network when there are no spare ports, eliminating the need to run additional cables for extra network points. Traditionally, 10/100 Base-T Ethernet traffic uses only two of the four twisted pairs within Cat5 or Cat5e cables. This allows the remaining two pairs to transmit a second signal by using a cable economiser, which is plugged into a wall outlet and a patch panel at the other end, effectively doubling the available ports at each location.
This range includes three options:
Data economiser: Transmits two 10/100 network signals, enabling the connection of two IP devices to an IP network at a maximum speed of 100Mbps (not suitable for Gigabit). Voice economiser: Transmits signals for two telephony devices to incoming telephone lines. True “Y” splitter: Directs all 8 pins of the RJ45 plug to all 8 pins on each of the two sockets allowing two phones to share a single line or extension.
These options provide versatile solutions for expanding network capacity without extensive cabling.
